On the afternoon of November 13, 2023, Ho Chi Minh City University of Law welcomed and held a working session with a delegation from Shanghai Institute of Political Science and Law (China) at Meeting Room A.905, Nguyen Tat Thanh Campus.

The delegation from Shanghai Institute of Political Science and Law included the presence of Professor Liu Xiaohong, the President of the institute; Ms. Lian Shufang, the Dean of the School of Public Administration; Mr. Chen Xiao, the Deputy Director of the Faculty Affairs Office; Ms. Chen Na, the Deputy Dean of the International Law Institute; and Mr. Ding Mingqiang, the Deputy Dean of the Institute of Economic Management.

On the side of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, there were the presence of Dr. Le Truong Son, the Rector of the university; Associate Professor Dr. Tran Thi Thuy Duong, the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Legal Science in Vietnam; Dr. Le Thi Thuy Huong, the Head of the Research Management and International Cooperation Office; Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Thuy, the Head of the Business Administration Department; Ms. Huynh Thi Thu Trang, the Director of the Center for High-Quality Training Management and International Training; and Ms. Hoang Huong Giang, the Deputy Director of the Legal Consultancy Center and a specialist in the Research Management and International Cooperation Office.

Representing the Shanghai Institute of Political Science and Law, President Liu Xiaohong expressed appreciation for the opportunity to explore and establish future collaboration plans with Ho Chi Minh City University of Law. With over 40 years of experience in training high-quality legal professionals, the Shanghai Institute of Political Science and Law is ranked 20th among more than 700 law training institutions in China. President Liu Xiaohong emphasized that, similar to Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, the focus on training high-quality legal professionals is also a top priority for the Shanghai Institute of Political Science and Law. The professor expressed the desire to cooperate with the university in organizing various student and faculty exchange programs, as well as other scholarship programs.

The representative of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, Rector Le Truong Son, expressed sincere gratitude to the delegation from the Shanghai Institute of Political Science and Law. After providing a brief introduction about the university, Rector Le Truong Son mentioned that the university places great emphasis on international cooperation activities specifically for students. These activities include study tours and short-term study programs abroad for the annual high-quality student class (CLC), as well as student exchange programs and jointly organized academic competitions such as Moot Competition, among others. Additionally, the university also expressed the desire to invite professors from the institute to teach law courses in English, French, or Japanese, to enhance language skills for CLC classes, especially those taught entirely in English.

Continuing the working session, both parties introduced their respective university journals and extended an invitation to each other to write and publish articles on these journals, focusing on key topics such as land law, economic law, maritime law, and international arbitration.

The Shanghai Institute of Political Science and Law regards Ho Chi Minh City University of Law as its leading partner in Vietnam, with whom it looks forward to further cooperation. At the conclusion of the working session, both parties agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding, laying the foundation for future collaborative activities. The Institute also extended an invitation for representatives from the university to visit Shanghai for a tour and to engage in further discussions with the Institute. This represents not only an opportunity for cultural and professional exchange but also a cornerstone for long-term cooperation in the field of education between Ho Chi Minh City University of Law and the Shanghai Institute of Political Science and Law.
